The Reveal.
Originally I said it would be a couple weeks before the entryway was complete but, I lit a fire under my rear this week & got shit done. So let's just get onto the goods, shall we?
This is a very tight space to photograph so I am sorry for the weird angles & the shadows casted as I took these as the sun was setting. On the bright side this is now my favorite space in my home. The wall colour is so soothing (it is called 'Luna' by Valspar) & it totally brightened the space. The trim is the same colour I used in my living room ('Asagio' also by Valspar) & it looks a bagillion times cleaner than our old trim. I also painted my old dresser black while we were having a BBQ w/Kev's parents. I bought a standard renters sconce instead of the one I really wanted. I just decided to go with what our landlord wanted & frankly as much as I loath said sconce it's a million times better than a lightbulb hanging off the wall. All the artwork & mirror are thrifted as are the lamp, rug, & basket. Budha & the picture frames are from Ross & T.J. Maxx.
It's so nice to walk into our house & have this be the first glimpse into our home. It feels so much more inviting. Now let's hope I can get the rest of the house on par with this room. Thanks for looking! Xo.

Running Errands.
This time I rolled the Old Navy jeans up for a different spin. It was a cooler day out so I paired them with my Brazilian beetle boots & threw on some light layers. I'm crazy obsessed w/this German military jacket. It's like a XXL but I love wearing it over sweaters. Just realized this is a fully thrifted outfit. Don't worry, I'll give myself a pat on the back for you. Xo.

Thrifting Tip: Table Cloths, Not just for Tables
Scarves are essential in the PNW. I have two rules when it comes to buying a scarf; 1. It's square & 2. It's very big. And table cloths are both of those. I purchased two table cloths today to use as scarves. One is plaid with tassels & the other a good neutral w/fringe. I've also purchased a small throw blanket that I have always worn as a scarf & it's probably my favorite. Take a gander at the table cloths next time you're browsing the thrift, & don't be afraid to swing it around your neck & see how it looks!

Unwelcome Entry.
Entryways are my favorite space in a home, if you are lucky enough to have one that is. It immediatley sets the tone for every other room. We are lucky enough to have one in this house but I had yet to do anything with it. I apologize for the sadness you are about to witness:
Pathetic, right? Notice the shameful lightbulb just hanging off the wall looking like it's ready to meet it's maker? Our landlords were suppose to replace that with a new sconce as the previous tenants broke the last one but still there it hangs, waiting for me to relieve it of its misery. I've already re-painted the walls & will do the trim today (the new colour is so heavenly I cannot wait to share!) I have lots of newly thrifted artwork to hang up but am unsure if I will do a console table or tall dresser for a surface piece. I have a dresser currently taking up space in my Papa's garage & I just found out he will be moving by end of summer so it will probably be the winner. Consider these the before photos & I hope to share after photos in a couple weeks!

Sisters.
For the second look of One Item - Three Ways, I donned my jeans in a look fit for a show. Or at least I think so. All the pieces are pretty similar as to what I wore the first round. Button up shirt, check, black jacket, check, heels, check again. Yet it still manges to feel different. At least that's my story & I'm sticking to it, damnit. After all PBR & flannels just have a chemistry that cannot be ignored. We went & saw Sisters at a new music venue in town going by the name of The Cannery. It's an awesome little venue & even more awesome is Sisters. They radiate such joy from their music & it's contagious. Check them out if you get a chance. Xo.

A little note...
This flannel was my Grandpas. He passed away on St. Patrick's Day 2012. He was my favorite man in the whole world & the reason I love flannels. He wore one damn near everyday when I was growing up. After he passed my Gramma gave me a bag of his old flannels. He owned two of this particular one so Kev now has it & also wears a couple more of them. It makes my heart happy to see a piece of him almost everyday. Who do you take your style inspiration from?

Business Meeting.
So I'm going to try something new here on the blog. One item - worn three ways. I'm hoping it will help show you different ways to diversify items in your wardrobe. Admittedly, we're starting simple with a good ole pair of bleu jeans. And this look was put together for a business meeting I had on Friday.
Picked these Old (in more sense than the name) Navy 100% cotton bleu jeans up at the Goodwill for $5.99. They were to long & boot cut which isn't my particular style so I took a pair of scissors to the bottom & then let them fray in the wash. I also did this with four other pairs of pants this week. I'm a big fan of the boyfriend pant style, especially on these warmer days. To add that bit of feminity I cut them all just right above the ankle. My ankles happen to be my favorite body part so that's what I prefer to show. ...One of those moments I probably just shared to much. Crap.

Anubis & Stripes.
For anyone that doesn't believe in global warming, I encourage you to come to Washington state right now. We seemed to have skipped spring & gone straight into summer. And I'm not to mad about it. Except for the excessive amount of boob sweat. I could do without.
Wore this out on Saturday as we enjoyed some patio sunshine while drinking Magner's. Xo.
