Figure I'd close out the week with a quick (read: extra lengthy) post. If you follow me on Instagram you've already seen images of this area before.
Recently I was looking at a blog that posted about a website that sells framed remnants of fabrics, materials, Morrocan wedding blankets, etc. The prices are astronomical. For a 20" x 20" Morrocan wedding blanket, framed, they want $1,100!!!! (Insert every explicit in the book.) That is more than double in price of what a full size wedding blanket would actually cost. @&!$? (More explicit language encouraged.) Not only a couple days later I was at Value Village & saw this beauty.
When it comes to buying art at the thrift I don't always have the best luck (my mom is a pro in this department.) So when I saw this framed...pillow case?...I felt pretty lucky. It's so old & I apologize for the crappy photos & the glare from the bay windows shining on the glass as it's not doing the piece any justice. The embroidery is beautiful & it must of meant something to someone as they had it professionally framed. It had a price tag of $6.99 & I ended up paying $3.50 for it since it was bleu tag day. Winner, winner, chicken dinner. A few more shots of my home below.
Thrifted Paris pillow (from my Gramma, the thrifting Queen), on thrifted chair, Target lamps (I have some newly thrifted lampshades I will be swapping these out for.)
Some trinkets from mine (& Kev's travels) - lava rocks from Iceland, small stone from my walk through Versailles, a healing stone for my health from my yoga teacher, the beginnings of my snow globe collection I hope will only grow over time, & a cactus in a espresso shot glass from a dear friend.
Kurt was my first major purchase when I first moved out on my own. I love using the frame to hold postcards from friends travels, & anything else I can fit in. The lion drawing I purchased for Kev from the thrift. Kev makes incredible animal masks & the artist of the lion also does. The photo above that is a vintage photo of Iceland we picked up at an antique store while in Reykjavik, & the two thrifted pictures to the side are German watercoulors. The console I designed & was custom built by a very special & dear friend who also built my living room side tables.
So there's just another peak into our home. You can probably tell by now my house is not a safe place for children. It's also not a safe place for a large dog who has a very happy tail that has a knack for knocking everything over it comes into contact with.
I'm curious to know what you guys want to see more of here? I have some ideas on things I hope to show but also want to know if there is anything to make this a blog you enjoy to stop by. Ideas are always welcome!
Have a great weekend, enjoy the sun, & remember your sunscreen! Xo.
Thrifting Tip: It's the weekend, go thrifting, & go early!
