Please excuse me looking a bit alien-esque. The lighting on these photos was pretty wonky, that or I am a hell of a lot paler than I realized (lieing - I know I'm Casper's flesh & blood.) This is what I wore out for my birthday dinner on Saturday. It is 99% thrifted, everything but the jeans. Putting this whole look right under $40. Hurray for being cheap! Especially given how much our bill for dinner was...yowzers. Xo.
Wearing: Thrifted blazer/belt/clutch, thrifted Ann Taylor top, Forever 21 jeans, thrifted Guess Heels
Thrifting Tip: Brand to Shop for - Ann Taylor
First a little history! Ann Taylor started in 1954 in New Haven. And was started by a man! Gone are the images of the chic woman I thought was named Ann & founded the company. Rather the name 'Ann' was decided upon as it was very popular in New England & 'Taylor' because it evoked the idea of something 'tailored'. Now Ann Taylor might not be a shop you've ever entered, I know I personally never purchased anything from there, but hear me out. A brand that has been around that long has obviously done something right; they make quality clothing. This top I am wearing is 100% silk which is one of the materials I generally shop for when thrifting. I also own a beautiful silk floral dress from Ann that I got for $4.99 at Goodwill. This is a brand that really does follow quality tailoring, so next time you are about to pass a piece at the thrift, give a second look! It's all about how you style it that makes it your own.
