Mexican Gems.

Kev & I fueled up on Mexican food then headed out to the Rock & Gem show to bump elbows with the senior citizens of our city on Sunday. There were so many stones, crystals, & fossils to be ogled! I picked up four different pendants & a crystal that I look forward to playing around with in the near future.

As far as what I am wearing, well, it's all thrifted! From head to toe, folks. I love all these pieces but these GAP jeans are by far my favorite jeans in my closet. They sit in just the right spot on my hips, are loose enough without falling off, & hit above the ankle making them perfect with just about every shoe I own. I mentally shake the donators hand thanking her for these gems each time I put them on. And now that my legs are waxed I don't have ankles to be confused with that of my dogs when I do wear them. Xo.

Wearing: Thrifted Everything! (Putting the outfit in the $30 price point) Anne Klein sweater, Talbots blazer, GAP jeans, Cole Haan loafers (Italian leather & never worn - deliciousness), no name clutch, Sieko watch, family heirloom cuff, Morgan Patricia Love earrings

Thrifting Tip: Avoid Plastic Buttons...& a look into my psychotic ways.

Buttons are on everything these days. And one of my biggest pet peeves is big plastic buttons. Oh how they drive me bonkers! I think they can make a perfectly sensible coat look cheap. Prada recently did an amazing collection with beautiful sequin work & vibrant colours but then put these huge plastic buttons on the coats & it just ruined them for me as they looked no different from a coat you'd buy at Old Navy. I figure the coat already cost a fortune so why not spring for a better button option? (I am going to hate the word button after this post.) This blazer I am wearing above has beautiful buttons made from mother of pearl. It's like having a piece of jewelry on the blazer & it just makes it that much more special. Now plastic buttons are truly on everything & I understand that but if possible I steer clear of them when it comes to outerwear. Look for ones made of metal or mother of pearl. And if they are plastic (although black ones can be okay in some scenarios) go for ones with something like a tortoise shell design. And if it really is an amazing jacket consider having the buttons replaced. It will only make the item that much more your own!
