Suns & Moons.

Hey there - Ho there - I'm still here! I apologize for the dead week. Kev & I spent the week building our vegetable garden & watching movies at home so it was pretty unglamorous. The only time I got dressed was to go to yoga. And you really can't call that getting dressed. Yoga wear is not acceptable for daily life ladies unless a yoga practice is apart of your daily life. But I digress, this weekend I got myself together & accomplished some other things around the house & even put on a pair of heels to go to dinner. That doesn't mean I put on a bra or changed out of the tank top I slept in however so lets not pump my tires to much. We'll touch more on that later in the week though....instead a few images of some new thrifty items I added to my home.

I've now snatched up three of these Indoneisan sun-moon mirrors at the thrift; you may have noticed a smaller one in my living room from a previous post. I'm obsessed with them. Not only are they beautiful & bring joy to me every time I see them, what they represent is very special to me. They remind me of my love for my Hatha practice as 'Ha' means sun & 'Tha' translates to moon. My practice continues to make me a better person & I am forever in its gratitude.

My momma picked up this huge gold mirror for me at a swap meet & the drawing of Jesus from the thrift. I'm considering painting the mirror as I have a lot of gold in my home & it's starting to feel a little to Jersey up in here. Everything else pictured minus the Turkish prayer beads on the sconce to the left (from my Gramma when she lived in Turkey) is thrifted. I've spoken of buying candlesticks from the thrift & you can see some of that collection here.

Truth be told this corner has become a a stash hold. I have a table here you can't see that has a bunch of miscellaneous items that have yet to find their proper spot. My hope is to eventually turn this area into a bar table. Add it on the never ending laundry list. And I haven't even folded my laundry in the dryer that's been sitting there for three days so add it to the end of the list.

Thrifting Tip: Price Haggle

Now you wouldn't catch me at Nordstrom trying to price haggle but at the thrift if I feel there is good reasoning, I will. Such with these mirrors. Same make in mirrors, laying one on top of the other in their bin but, one was priced at $1.99 the other $5.99. I asked for them to match the price as they were the same mirror even though the bleu one might be more eye catching. The cashier begrudgingly gave in. I don't recommend doing this for all items, but sometimes if they missed a tear in a seam that would require alterations & I feel the price should better match that I will ask. The worst they can say is no after all. Xo.
